Next weekend will be a big one for our parish.  More than 60 candidates will complete their Christian Initiation by receiving the sacrament of Confirmation conferred by Bishop John Cummins, and more than 190 young people (about 100 2nd graders) will take the second step in their Christian Initiation by receiving their First Holy Communion.  We are grateful for this infusion of new life and energy in our parish.

Prayer for Vocations
Written by Fr. Paul Schmidt
Friday, 11 April 2008
This week we are asked to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.  Last week the local newspaper treated its readers to a rehash of all the clergy scandals that have taken place in the diocese for the past 50 years.  This should serve as a reminder that we have to pray not only that people will respond to God's special call.  We must also pray that those who have responded to that call will remain faithful to it.  We are a church of sinners and of wounded and weak people.  Unfortunately, this fact becomes overwhelming at times.  May God continue to forgive us, and may we learn to forgive one another, because only forgiveness can bring real healing to everyone concerned. The following statement was issued at the request of Bishop Allen Vigneron.
